In the first of a brand new two-part special, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May meet in Burma, Rangoon, where they are set a challenge: they must travel north and build a bridge over the River Kwai in Thailand.
In order to do that, however, they must first drive across a country that has been largely closed to Westerners for over 40 years. Furthermore, they must make this trip in three lorries, each bought sight unseen from the internet for a limited budget and, unsurprisingly, not quite as the trio might have hoped or expected.
An amazing journey follows, full of beautiful scenery, constant adversity, ongoing malfunction and the constant bickering of three Top Gear buffoons.
